hello

has anyone got one of these they could lend me for a couple of weeks?

ive a load of vinyl i wanna shove on mp3 and i dont have the facility anymore to do this.

if you are local-ish to me i will come and collect (north west) but if further afield i can pay for return postage for the hire, plus beer tokens!

cheers

Yo,

Did a load myself not so long ago, used a normal turntable and the amp from the lounge taking analogue from the table, then used the optical link from the amp to my sound card, recorded and mp3'd without any hiccup

what is it that you guys actually want the turntable for, just ripping from vinyl to mp3?

I want to transfer my Albums & 45's to CD's

Still don't fully understand these 'MP3' things.

the only problem i have is that i could buy a turntable on the cheap plus leads but then i have something surplus to my requirements after a while and shifting that might not be easy as they arent that popular anymore unless you are a dj or a purist ;)

we sell a usb turntable for £135 inc delivery which would do exactly what you both want... difference being its made by a manufacturer that actually make decent dj gear, rather than just any old manufacturer.

let me know if you're interested :)

I don't bother with MP3, the degredation in sound quality is too much for my ears.  Besides, if my collection was all on MP3 I'd loose it, I loose CDs as it is with bringing them up here.

Anyway, I could copy them onto Minidisk for you if that's any help? (provided it's not BABA or anything sad like that).

depends how its done :) if you use a better encoder (and at 320kbps), you'll get a better result.

M-S floorstanders, 816s IIRC and L-S LP12.  My CD is a MicroMega stage1 with Chord Cobra interconnects and it has to try very hard to sound as good.

Doesn't get used much since I got the dogs though, for obvious reasons.

quality stuff then :D always a must. with any luck, we'll have a 5 piece band buying a rather sizey RCF rig from us soon... preferably the bigger one... 4x 18" subs kicking out 134dB each, and 2x12"/1x8"/1x1" tops also kicking out 134dB ;) systems total is about 5.1Kw ;)
