GRRRRRR bloody Renault drivers!**UPDATE**

well wife went out the house at 10 :43.. at 10:45 I had a phone call telling me to come NOW.. turned up to where she said, and found that as she had stopped at a crossing, a Renault Scenic DIDNT (he was looking at the radio!!) end result is this:-



looking at it , hes managed to push the boot floor in and up - so i think its going to be written off!
Just had to take the wife up the hospital to be checked out as she couldnt move her neck and her lower back is in spasms.. so looks like i am in for a fun day -NOT!
one good thing - the front of his 53 [plate scenic looks like it came off worse - rad gone, steering pump gome, bonnet - 1 wing and both headlights gone too..

again its a cliche but cars can be replaced people cant yes I know its anoying yes I know it shouldnt of happened in the first place but hope SWMBO is ok

cheers , still waiting for a phone call from her , as i had to leave her at hospital as we had no one to look after our 3 kids..luckily hospital is about 4 minutes from me!
just made me angry that the [ed: naughty] wasnt even looking at the road, and he had 2 3 year olds in the car with him..
some people dont deserve a licence,.!!!!

They might not be any help but get as much to cover your backs as you can in case you take it further.

no i dont think they were called- he admitted fault, plus the fact it was nose to tail smash on a crossing makes it kind of cut and dried,, best part is he lives about 100 yards from us!!!

Get it reported, an injury is involved (SWMBO) otherwise legally you could be on dodgy ground.

OK, i'm sorry to hear about your smash, but the bit about him shouldnt have been allowed a license cos he was looking at his radio.  I'm sorry but everyone does it, no-one keeps their eyes permanently on the road ahead at any time.  Its just misfortunate.

bearing in mind the crossing is less than 50 yards from a traffic island - so even at the island you can see stationary traffic - plus the fact he had his 2 daughters in the car with him..just glad they were both safely strapped in!
and as for EVERYONE does it.. erm little bit of a sweeping statement isnt it? i drive about 75,000 miles a year in my job and about 15,000 in my own time i have seen things that defy belief- women drying their hair with portable hair dryers, guys shaving - men changing shirts, men and women getting 'intimate' all whilst driving.
What had happened if at the crossing  someone was crossing in front of his car?
I have seen 2 fatal accidents this week and realise that 'ACCIDENTS' do happen , but this was sheer negligence on his part.
Also as a biker i understand the importance of observation - as if to prove a point I had to visit another biking buddy in hospital on friday after he had a bad accident in his works van - broken 4th and 5 vertabrae, fractured skull ,broken collarbone, one eye has a detatched retina, along wityh assorted cuts, grazes and fractures.

I would have a chat with the police about this - I always thought you had to have a crime no from the police to make an insurance claim
The fact he admits liability now will make no differene if he decies to change his mind when the insurance co. starts getting involved - get the police to get  a statement from him admitting liability to be safe

Nope, I'd agree with that entirely. Better safe than sorry - if he continues to accept liability and his insurance company agree, the fact you have involved the police won't matter. If his hindsight is less than 20/20 when the bill arrives, a prior admission of guilt to the police will ensure you have an easier time.

Either way it's worth it.



And there's no excuse for inattention. You shouldn't mess about with things that need your eyes off the road when driving.

Shame he didn't go up the backside of the Boxster which was weaving around all the lanes of the M25 earlier.  I'd have been tempted to have a go myself, if I could have caught up with him...

Take her to the Police Station, and tell them of the injuries your tother half has experienced.

right ball has been started.. he has admitted liability, and insurance has been notified - as has the claims people - result of 5 hours in A+E is that nothing broken , but has a case of whiplash.
So now have a car she doesnt want to drive (not that she can at the moment as shes in too much pain) assessor should be out this wek, and if its not a viable repair we can get at courtesy car until payment is issued, or if its is repairable then we get one until hers is returned.
Had a good look in the boot, the floor has been pushed up about 3 inches and inwards by about the same, so i cant see them repairing it.. may consider a buy back and selling it on for spares as the rest of its in good nick..

Jokeing apart if SWMBO is injured in any way then she MUST report it to the Police, failure to do so is an offence.
I was involved in an RTA years ago and the other person involved admitted liability and said he was fine.
One week later a Policeman arrived at my door and charged me with failing to report an accident.
He had woken up the next morning with a pain in his leg and went to hospital,  they put it down to the RTA and claimed from his inssurance who informed the police who traced me from my reg number cost me a lot to fight it all because he blamed me so he would not loose his NCB.
Report it ASAP.

Would it have been misfortune if they had hit somebody on the crossing, as there is a injury it should be reported to the police, I thought it was a requirement of you insurance policy that you do not admit liability if you are involed in a accident

cheers for that.. we have a Citroen C4 arriving tomorrow - courtesy of the [unpleasent fellows] insurance ;)
also have a claim for personal damage going through as well..as for an assessment well.. hatchback dented and twisted - rear bumper U/S. boot floor pushed in and up by about 4 inches, so I think its a write off, we valued it at £800..on that point if they write it off do we get BOOK value, or what we valued it at??

Whiplash is not fun (speaking from personal experience and nearly 12 months of physiotherapy) so tell her to take it easy.  Or as easy as possible with 3 kids in the house!

best part is she has been suffering with back pain since her last accident 15 years ago, and this has aggrevated the problem, booked in to see Dr tomorrow night..

Having just gone through this with my zafira they generally go on book value (Glasses) and Knock some off for above average milage, body damage e.t.c. try using this to calc car value,

I found it virtualy spot on, then argue its worth, remember they will start low. i got £200 less than book value with mine after about 45mins argueing which was good with a couple of car park scrapes and a kerbed alloy.

Look on auto trader and some other site's for example's to back up your case.

When my E-reg Fiesta was deemed a write-off about three years ago, I got £300, minus £75 for the buy-back.  The car was still driveable.  I think I would have had to pay about £150 if I had taken it in for scrap.  I think it is bottom book price that you get.

The laughable thing was that about three months after the accident I got a letter from the insurers asking me to remove the car from storage if I had not already done so as they could no longer pay for storage.  I had been driving the car every day since the accident and it had passed its MOT, complete with crash damage - a dint in the front wing!

I'm glad to read that SWMBO is OK.  My soon-to-be-husband was involved in a similar bump a few months ago - whiplash is not nice.  I hope her back trouble is only temporary as well.  Get well soon.

Well the courtesy car turned up today 06 Reg Citroen C4 Diesel..interesting car, but i wouldnt spend my hard earned on one, too many electricals to go wrong
