TYRE SIZES
« on: September 16, 2004, 13:24:36 »
Can anyone advise me on tyre sizes.

I currently have 205/80/r16's on my Range Rover Vogue (classic) on the standard alloy wheels and have been told that i can have 235/70/r16's out on.

Will this fit? and would it rub any arches if they are put on?

thanks in advance

The tyre diameter is exactly the same. But you would obviously have an extra 15mm width on each side. So you need to check your existing tyres clearance at full lock in both directions. Also bear in mind where the wheel travels to on full lock and full suspension travel.

If the RR's have adjustable steering lock stops, you may need to back them off a little.

I've seen the 255 equivelent diameter (Yokohama Geolander AT's) on Classics before now and they fit very snuggly up into the standard arches - in this case the steering locks didn't have to be moved but that may not be the case on all Classics. The 235's will fit without modification and will improve your roadholding no end.

........we also tried the same vehicle with my 265/75x16 Dirt Devils   . We nearly tore the wing off just lowering the jack! But, damn,  it looked good with 'em on!
