So Dan, I assume then you are going to go out and buy a 1.0 Citroen AX as you really don't need any more power for the roads? They can match all the speed limits.

no mate not getting a citroen AX mate im getting a MK2 golf

Easily... 110 TD. 75 coming out of the engine in 1989, then it's gotta go through the flywheel, transfer box, shafts, axles, AT Tires, 0-60 is in glacial terriotry and stopping involves lots of screeching and locked rear drums.

200tdi slightly tweaked 120bhp & 180 Ibft & have dyno graph to prove it

wonder what it will be with new bits................

Littledan, I think you should voice your disagreement about the engine output of a vehicle in somewhere such as General Chat and not in this person's request for help on finding suitable tyres for his vehicle.

jstrat, sorry but I'm not able to give any advice or info on the tyres.  Aren't there any 16-inch rims that are available for your vehicle?

Not without taking a good inch off the brake disks there isn't...

So the discs are actually 16/17-inch in diameter?

I know thrasher put 17"s onto his SC and it was VERY tight, or were they 18s even?... look in his gallery.

I am pretty sure you can only just get 19" wheels on the SC. The brakes are not quite as big on the TD6 though. They come standard with 19" wheels and 18" wheels do fit. Not sure about 17" wheels though, might be tight on a 2006 model.

Anyway, I have 18" wheels to put rubber on so thats the size I am looking for advice on. Which seems to be a bit thin on the ground amongst the bhp banter  :?

Yeah I have looked there. Not a heap of help as most of the tyres mentioned there are only available in the US which makes them quite hard to get hold of here (would prefer a UK supplier just in case a problem arrises with any of the tyres at fitting time).

I wouldn't mind those Cooper tyres, but I have had no reply to my enquires about what the specifc modifications are to get them to fit under the arches. Shame as they look awesome.

The Silent Armor tyres also looked very good, but again not available over here. :(

After speaking to Thrasher those wheels were 19" and they were bloomin' tight! I assume the TD6s will still have 15/16" brakes though.

Here you go mate, a couple of 18" sizes available,

http://www.tyrespec.co.uk/products/?pattern=Discoverer+STT+%28NEW%29

They are very very good tyres. I am actually going to pick up a set of 33" on 16" rims next weekend for my disco for two reasons, one is that they are good on the road so it saves me having to change my tyres and two, (most importantly) they are free!!!!

Nope, looked at those, they are too big. Diameter of over 32". There just isn't enough room in the arch without ripping out most of the plastics. Don't really want to be doing that.

I even got the Rangie crossed up on a bank to see how much room I had to play with, could only just squeeze my hand in between the tyre and the inner plastics, very tight. And I can't be 100% sure that was max compression either, but I don't think it would have gone much tighter. The stocks are 30" diameter.

Great looking tyres though wish they fitted :(

Thrasher

Meant to ask earlier in the thread... where did you get your rear recovery eye from?

As i dropped in to the bomb hole on the night trial at the Belgian National, i thought i was heading for a rollover (nearly sh*t myself).
Thrasher followed me in, in that Black Thing he drives
