Thank God!!
« on: September 19, 2006, 20:40:02 »
Well after a particularly unexciting day i have just had the most nearve wracking 3 hours of my life..Had a phone call from my wife - she in tears and son screaming his head off in the background.. he had somehow managed to open his bedroom window and fallen about 15' onto our concrete path outside...As you can imagine my wife was a wreck and I just went into shock, she rushed him to local hospital - luckily about 5 minutes up the road, while I tried to fight my way there in my wagon whilst phoning friends to arrange for someone to look after my 2 daughters, and my boss to arrange for someone to colect 18 tonnes of scania from the local hospital car park!
anyway, after getting there and finding them, my son was checked out thouroughly, and had a skull x-ray - and all he has suffered are a few minor cuts and a couple of grazes!
Have finally started to come down after the shock, and am not ashamed to say that today is the first time I have lost it and started crying, as any parent can vouch for all the worst possible things go through your mind.
Just glad hes OK, and have found out I have some wonderful friends (think a bottle of whiskey is called for by way of a thank you)

sounds like he was very lucky   kids have a habit of bouncing though, we have to keep my sons windows locked as he would be climbing out otherwise and something similar would no doubt happen

Glad he's ok mate,  :D

There's no shame in crying, especially after what you have gone through.

I could'nt imagine how I would react, if anything happenened to my kids.

hmmmm ,
reminds me of my youngest bout 5 years ago when she decided to climb out of the top part of the window, (the ones that just have a small opening at the top)
that was from the 2nd floor of a 3 storey house, think what saved her was falling onto the wheelie bin though. she just calmly got up and knocked on the back door to come in.
she said that she was trying to climb down the phone line that came from the window.
All she had wrong with her was a small bruise on her shin and that was it. It's amazing how strong kids are.
