Help required for a new member who nearly bought trugs 90
« on: September 19, 2006, 22:21:05 »
One of the bidders who nearly got stitched up with trugs old 90 who i emailed was asking advice on buying a 90.  I suggested joining mud club for advice but they are currently waiting for the confirmation email.  They can read but not post!  In the mean time I said I would post this message and see if anyone had any ideas.  Have a budget of about 3.5 - 4k and really wants a 90.  Anyone know of any for sale?  Im not well up on 90's, anyone got any advice on finding a goodun?

Two others on ebay are :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270030085651

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280029330582

Anyone got any comments?  I am sure our newest member will be along shortly!

Cheers all,

Mike

Disco 200tdi or range rover doo dar or whatever he calls himself this week says "the first one looks ok, but dubious cos its a rebuilt on a q plate, the second one is overpriced".  Hes too lazy to post so I said I would do it for him.  Isnt that right daniel son?  :D

  may you spend eternity sewing mens dirty underwear!

First one is dubious cos its an unknown vehicle of non standard spec, so obviously not the same to fix.  The fact its on a q plate means its been done properly but for first time i would say stick with normal stuff.

Second one is a 1985 and unless rebuilt isnt worth much, you can get a half decent 200tdi or early 300tdi 90 for the budget shown.

College at this time of night?  Now thats dedication! ;)  I am not sure I would want one on a Q plate either, got to at least lead to expensive or difficult to obtain insurance.  To be honest I didnt get all the details about what they are looking for, waiting for another email or to be added to msn or something.  I am sure they will fill in the blanks once they get the membership email.

And being rather careful here he allegedly received several broken items that were not as described for it in part payment.  It then appeared on ebay with alegedly some bad parts of the description missing.

Of course thats just an opinion :D

There is on some other threads but its been removed from ebay.  Maybe something to do with the fact that half of mud club sent him awkward questions and some of us emailed all the bidders. :D

Whoever does buy my old 90 will be getting one hell of a decent 90, all it needs is new passenger swivel/trans box seeing to (may just need linkage adjusting)/ new steering box..... and the buyer needs to be aware that rear chassis has been plated on both sides due to corrosion. rear xmember was replaced at some point (but is not looking healthy, that was the reason for chequer plate xmembr cover).
Value..... its not worth more than £6.5k.

The dodgy owner may well remove all graphics to re-sell it.........
Just keep your eye out for massive whitepeak engineering modded arches and it'll be trug

I hope a mud-club member gets trug..... but i also hope he doesnt rip you off by selling it at more than its worth.
