Has risen its head for me

I got my insurance renewal this morning

It works out at
Premium = £294.00
Issuing Fee = £25.00 (you can guess who it is by now  )
Personal Accident Cover = £11.00
Equalling £334.00

As usual it's gone up, not a lot but it's still risen, so I had a quick ring to the agent who covered my old 110Tdi (they weren't competative for the Discovery though)

After all the preliminaries & information was exchanged, the figure came back of
£231.00   (including Protected NCB& Legal cover)

So I'm off for a trip to Honley next week with some money (dependant on the confirmation of a minor point with their head office

i think thats about right.
younger people are far more likely to be in an accident so therefore need to pay more.

i like the ideas being put forward at the moment about restrictions on new drivers. not just younger ones tho
but thats for another thread.

I think you'll find he was referring to the value of Davids vehicle!

My 1983 110 insurance cost £133 with mods on a 6000 mile P.A. policy. And the Zuke is only £118  :D But then, according to my wife I am old and grey

My policy/renewal quotation is with Adrian Flux.
They have the 'Not For Hire & Reward' clause on the policy

For some reason 11 seats = minibus :?
Even though the seating layout doesn't, neither does it equate to a crew-bus layout

The £231 is a quote from the Huddersfield area office of the NFU.

RRC as named driver under dads policy is £500....

NFU wanted over £3k to insure it in my name (outstanding claim that i reckon wasnt my fault but still arguing it)....im not paying that on something worth half that

the other RRC is currently insured fire and theft for £20 /12months....if its going to be megamoney to insure i might just buy a trailer instead to take it to offroad sites

I would go with NFU rather than Adrian Flux. More work when it comes to quoting mods but better customer service by far. Personally I found AF were crap when handling an accident where there was no damage on mine and through their incompetence lost me my no claims.

Their customer service couldn't give a .... and claimed taht although they requested a copy of it for policy it wasn't required. And since it officially didn't transfer as soon as accident occured i lost it.

I've been & paid the premium this morning. It was a nice trip over through the rural parts of Huddersfield.
It's nice to be able to ask questions directly, & clarify the questions over the immobiliser (that Adrian Flux insisted on in January)

The level of knowledge shown was cofidence-boosting as well, one of the other girls was on the phone to someone trying to get a quote for a 90, on asking the question to the proposer "Is it a Tdi, or a Td5?", she explained the differance under the bonnet & how to tell the 2 apart :D

My immobiliser didn't appear on the screen (discontinued model, apparantly) the young lady I dealt with checked up with Thatcham & clarified the situation that it was compatible with the NFU standards.
Well done  =D>

They still accept the 11-seats without any qualms

So I happily came away with a smile on my face, nothing to do with the nice young lady I dealt with obviously

Just insured my 90 today with Adrian Flux. 31 yr old with no no-claims (on my other car) restricted to 7500 miles £174 Fully Comp with offroad and greenlaning cover. That's sweeet considering I've also just had to insure my 3rd car (J reg fiesta to go to work in) and that cost £350 TPFT!

Think yourself licky you can insure a decent car for that, some lads I've taught are paying that for a Coarser.

And as for restrictions on new drivers, take the whole lot of the road and retest them I say, most licence holders don't deserve the privalidge and could not pass they test they orriginally took , let alone the modern driving test.

True.

Andrew, I think you've said it before?, but the fact is they're taught to pass 'the Test' not to drive.

Restrictions on power (not engine size, as we all know about tuning) & great bigP plates ought to be mandatory for at least the first 18months??

NFU came up best for our two 110's(green light came close before money grabbing by no longer covering 4x4's)

Always fun ringing round for quotes, start by asking simple questions;

Do you cover 11/12 seats?
Do you cover mods?
Do you cover business use?

That weeds out the naff companies :D
If I wanted a clever answer, I'd have asked a clever person!
