valve not closing on TD5
« on: September 24, 2006, 20:11:35 »
I have a problem with my Disco Td5 auto and would be happy to hear your advice and comments.
The engines starts up and runs perfectly well in the morning from cold.
As i drive on for some miles and sometimes drive it a bit hard then let the engine idle i can hear a noise from the air box and if i take the inlet pipe off and put my hand against it i can feel the air blowing out instead of being constantly sucked in. I have come to the conclusion that one or more vales are not closing and so the compression is being puched out of some or one of the inlet valves. This problem fixes itself if i switch the engine off and leave it for about 15mins and then restart.......then it works fine.  I would assume that it is not a valve spring problem since it is not a constant problem.

Can anyone help me please???
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks. :)
