Engine out!
« on: September 26, 2006, 17:58:43 »
So, I finally pulled the engine out of the 110 on Sunday..... only had the replacement sat there for a year or so

Now to get all the right bits cleaned up and swapped over. Then bolt on my boxer carbs  :D and make up the side exit exhaust to mate up to the Janspeed manifolds   Got to sort a vacuum point for the centre diff lock and a few other 'little issues'

I'm not in a hurry, but I've set myself a target of having it running by the 15th October. Wish me luck!

Engine out!

Well.....

It came out OK. Replacement went back in the following weekend without too much hassle. Put a new clutch slave in because the old one was leaking. Bled it through..... no clutch pedal. Bled it more.... still no clutch pedal   So took the slave out to see if the pushrod was located properly and promptly pulled the plastic clip off the arm

So, out came the engine again! Found one of the slave threads was stripped in the bell housing so took the opportunity to helicoil it. Reasembled the clutch pushrod and threw the engine back in. At least it's all relatively clean this time.

Bled the clutch.... no pedal   But as my son was pushing the pedal I noticed bubbles appearing in the master cylinder so I've concluded the master has failed too!

Live is never easy!

Still, I now have my boxer manifold and 4 SU carbs all plumbed in and they don't leak fuel when the pumps switched on. And my side exit exhaust is all built and installed (seem to be in vogue at the moment looking at other threads!).

Now to get the dizzy in and set about right. Which way do I wire the electronic ignition to the coil? There are 2 wires from the module on the dizzy. Which is -ve and which is +ve? Otherwise I assume all I need is a +ve feed to the coil?

Not far to go now..... hopefully!
