Stolen RIB
« on: September 28, 2006, 14:12:18 »
Hello all, I have promised to put this on here as the boat was stolen using a Defender (anyone recognise it? The pics are pretty good for CCTV). Its from the WSF (World Sea Fishing) Forum, another good bunch of helpful lads & lasses, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

My god, I used to live around the corner from there on the High Street!

I'm not surprised as Yacht Haven is a thieves paradise!

I still know lots of folks down there (lots of really nice law abiding citizens and a couple of scroats who aren't!) so I'll ask a few questions.

It's all too common now, RIBs are sometimes even hijacked while on charter!

Will keep an eye open in the local marinas seeing as I'm not too far from there. Will look out for the Defender too.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

It has to be said that the thief is bleedin necky to do it with such a distinctive vehicle, makes you wonder if the vehicle is stolen too!

I wish this project would just hurry up and finish!

But I don't think it will if I keep making simple mistakes

Well it's a 90, White, black chequer on wings, bit tires and a winch. (Before anyone says anything, I know I'm stating the obvious).

Make that 8 Spokes, 2 work lights, Stickers down side suggest around TDi age, I can't get the plate read-able though.

That's what I make from it all anyway.

If we are being geeky...

Its a 300Tdi Defender 90 (300Tdi because air intake on the drivers side) - all the stickers are 300Tdi...

Probably about '96/97..

Also the last three digit of the plate look like GAC - which might actually mean it's an ex Land Rover vehicle.

The back door also looks slightly odd, possibly been fitted with a new Td5 type rear door (post 2002 door).

It's not a LHD as suggested on the boat forum.

I can't see a winch either, just the rope wrapped around the bumper....

Tyres will probably be 265x75x16's....
