A mate had this happen to him, He had emptyed his ash tray and
forgotten to put it back.... Guess where the RAC found it.... Yep
under the right hand pedal...

Have you checked for any obstruction under the pedal.?

Has anything happened to the accelerator cable, the adjustor under the bonnet or something?

Not sure how the throttle cable fixes at the engine end. It could have slipped. But this would mean you have loads of surplus pedal travel before anything happens, or the pedal will be further down than before.

Or maybe an air leak on the inlet side? Manifold, etc.

How about this for a classic, my lightweight started doint this, turned out that when I was refitting the carb, I left the pipe to the air filter on too and i sucked up a rag, it had fired so I left it, re-built everything else, ran down to the road to the garage and the thing died on me

Took 20 mins of fault finding to find it  whhooops

HI FOLKS, NICE SUGGESTIONS BUT I'M AFRAID ITS NOT THE CAUSE.I'VE REVVED IT FROM THR PUMP SO NOT A LINKAGE PROBLEM, AND I TREATED IT TO A K&N FILTER AT THE PETERBROUGH SHOW SO THATS ANOTHER OUT
I THINK ITS EITHER FUELING OR EXHAUST RELATED (ALTHOUGH I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF IT ISN'T MY OLD FAVOURITE FROM THE HAYNES FAULT FINDING VOCABULARY

Right this is only a thought but when i had this problem it was air in the fuel mine was the sedimenter drain screw was lose, but i have been told that if you check under the boot cover there is a inspection hole that allows you to see the pipes from the fuel tank they are known to let air in there if they are perished.

I had a problem last year when driving normally with a light foot it went fine but when you put your foot down for more power it would cough and splurt - turned out it was one of the pipes on the spill line / return off the injectors - normal running and the diesel was pushed back to the injector pump fine, heavy foot and it would spurt diesel all over the block and let air in.

If you like writing like that that is fine BUT IT DENOTES SHOUTING ON THE NET so you may want to type in normal case.

And how was Kirton
