Brake line removal

I am having a real job undoing the nut on the bottom of the front brake line hose in order to remove and replace witht he shing new braided ones.

Covered in WD40, still not luck. Any tips or should I just rip it off and replace the line into the btrake also.

Is this the one that attaches to a small bracket :?:  If so, may sound obvious (even though I always forget in the heat of the moment), heat it up. If it doesn't work, at least you get to play with fire for half hour or so :twisted:

Are you trying to undo it with proper brake pipe spanners, or just an open ender. If you can get hold of them from a mate of such like, they are designed for the job. Ther have five flat sides, and one missing so you can get it over the  pipe. I will happily lend mine to you, if you want to collect from New Romney.

If you are refering to the metal pipe onto the hose, as soon as a metal brake pipe looks like wringing off, I cut it right next to the nut. Then take the nut off with a socket. Then Just make up a new pipe. The short one to the caliper is dead easy to install. Had the same problem the other week with the one across the front. What a pain that was to install!!

If you have the metal pipe off and it's the hose nut giving grief, you could remove the bracket. The 2 bolts also hold the top swivel piece in place so undo one just one turn. Then remove the other. Swivel the bracket out of the way and replace the bolt fully. Then you can remove the other bolt without the swivel coming apart. Then you can hold the hose in a vice so you can get a good heave on the nut!

Thanks for all the responses. Yes it is the pipe on the caliper that fits to the bracket on the top.

I'll try the heat thing - no I am not using proper brake line removal tools and if that fails I'll get another.

As to making these lines up how easy is it ?

You will need a flaring tool. I'm lucky in that we have all the kit at work because we make them for Minis. But you can buy DIY level ones from car shops. Even Halfords might stock one! I tell you, it is one of those tools you will not regret buying. Makes life soo much easier when you know you can just cut the pipe and make a new one. You will then need a roll of 3/16" Kunifer pipe. As long as you don't wreck them first, you can re-use the fittings. Don't use plain copper, nasty stuff!! Managed to get it off after applying heat without any problem. Now I just wish this rain would stop so I can go and fix it all back together and put the new wing on.
