Worst name?
« on: October 02, 2006, 08:24:55 »
I've always been of the opinion that "Jimny" really is a bloody awful name for a car, but since I've owned a couple, I find myself cringing when I utter the word "Vitara" - It's like the naff way people name their houses after a combination of their kids names (Victoria & Tara). I suppose the "Sportrack" would also have to qualify as a real stinker too - "Sport" & "Track" can you see what they did, clever, eh?
Oh, & naming a vehicle after how long it is in inches - don't get me started!    [-(  #-o  :smack:
Are there any worserer (that was good English what I then did) car names about?

Vitara gets a rough deal in the US

Jimmy (Without the N) under the Chevvy Badge)
And Sidekick under the Suzuki Badge.

I Alwas Thought Aygo was quite bad and dond forget the Bongo Friendee
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Suzuki Cappuccino
Suzuki Van Van (which was a bike!)
Toyota Estima Lucida G Luxury Joyful Canopy
Isuzu Big Horn
Isuzu Giga 20 Light Dump
Suzuki Alto Afternoon Tea
Suzuki Every Joy Pop Turbo
Yamaha Pantryboy Supreme
Mazda Bongo Friendee

Oi!, I own a Carisma, but you're right, bloody awful name & probably in contravention of the trade description act as it's the most un-charismatic car I've ever owned. It's a reliable workhorse though.

I believe Fiesta and Escort are varieties of male orientated grown up style magazines (erm or so I'm told)

Which is fitting when you think about it because you look around and it won't take long to see one with t*ts in it

Explorer - quite small (for a US truck)

Mother-in-law was looking at the new Roomster, with me the other day (as we are considering px-ing the Fabia for one)

So consequently it's now known as the 'Broomster' in this house
It'd go with the ring-tone specifically set for her mobile number; 'Ride Of The Valkyries'
(everyone else sets off 'Wallace & Gromit')
