When rebuilding the top end of a 1400 Astra engine, always ensure that the cam followers are actually replaced before tightening head bolts.  Failure to do so results in the need to purchase a(nother) new head gasket and a(nother) set of head bolts.

Retrieving tools dropped through the engine bay of a Series Landy is far easier than retrieving tools dropped through the engine bay of an Astra.

I'm just not with it today, but I want MILs Astra off my drive 'cos I need somewhere to store some Series bits.

I thought fitting a set of NAS lights to the rear of my 90 yesterday would take no more than a couple of hours.

Started at 2pm - finished at 11pm

Halfway through had to go to B&Q to by one of those Dremel thinggys to enlarge the holes in the bodywork.

Still it wouldn't be fun if it was easy - yeah right!

You can spend all day trying to chuck a nut into a 2" diameter hole and never manage it.  However, stand over the engine bay of an Astra and accidently drop a nut, and it'll fall straight down the exhaust pipe!  Bloody thing stayed there as well.

If it's not difficult, it's not fun.  It certainly isn't fun when it's not your car and you'd rather be welding a Landy.

It might not have been fun.  But nothing beats that feeling when you turn the key and the engine starts first time.   :D

Now all I need to do is get it through an MoT and I get some of my drive back.
