That BBC link is full of ****, did they not listen to the audio - "he appears to be unaware of the plane"....er, no he's standing there talking about it to the guys filming as it happened!!!

I dont know what all the fuss is about as they were letting off steam, he was still flying  all be it very low, the harrier pilots must know what they are doing as they are one of the most expert pilots in the world.

Why did the guy duck too? The plane was about 20-30ft from the ground. If that took his head off I would be very impressed.

Now I just sit back and wait for the replies :lol:

Type low flying Spitfire in to youtube. And get a similar item when a Spitfire buzzes Alain De Cadenet.Harriers good but Spitfire sounds better.

we get them twin blade helicopters everyday flying over the farm and often they fly below the electric cables on the big pylons. looks well cool, especially when there is a landy & trailer hanging underneath.

Pilots love doing that sort of s##t and its quite impressive when they get really low.
Saw an RAF Phantom showing up our Tornados out in Cyprus. Our Tonkas had been showing off and trying to fly low. There was a local workman sat on top of a building also watching. When our Tonkas had finished their showoff, the Phantom did his. He was so low he nearly knocked the bloke off the top off the building :lol:  :lol:  :lol:
Good to watch, and even better cos it showed our pilots up :lol:  :lol:

A good few years ago I went to Woodford airshow .It was long before the health and safety rules came in. A Vulcan came in at a ground level pass got level with the crowd  the crew stuck it into a vertical climb the afterburners came on and this amazing lumbering beast shot upwards with a noise that was unbelievable. I cant wait until there is one flying again .I will travel anywhere to watch it.

That's a sight I'm not lucky enought to have seen but should one ever get flying again SWMBO will leave me no choice but to attend.

Re the Vulcan flying. There is one currently being restored back to flying condition. Check www.tvoc.co.uk.
They hope to have it back in the air for the 25th anniversary of the Blackbuck missions over the Falklands.
On the subject of being buzzed by low flying aircraft, I was sent to RAF Fairford in 2003 as part of the security detachment when the B52 bombers were flying from there to go and say hello to Saddam.
In our moments of boredom, we would go and stand at the end of the runway as they took off. The noise as they flew over at what seemed like a few feet above our heads was incredible.
It was quite amusing watching the peace protestors start jumping about when the Buffs took off as well. They would start to wail, wave their arms about and call us guardians of the Imperialistic angels of death.
Each to their own opinion, I suppose.

I've been called a lot worse.
It has to be said that it was a real eyeopener. Gawd knows what the end bill was for the security operation, but I do know that the UK taxpayer coughed up. I also learnt not to trust any young American service personel, armed with an M16.

On a lighter note, I've just seen the video clip of the low flying Spitfire. The phrase 'cutting the grass' springs to mind.

That was excellent! I saw the 'shorter' version, but this clip is much more amusing!
Is it worth while looking at doing a Mud Club run to one of the airshows next year? Perhaps Duxford, Biggin Hill or Mildenhall?

on a darker note i spent my 24 th birthday on the falklands and i can remember the skyhawks coming in at zero feet and us taking pot shots at them, 24 yrs later i sometimas still duck if a loud plane comes at me from behind .

big respect to you well done for the time u did there =D>  =D> Also that video of the harrier was taken at Kandahar airbase i have seen firts hand how low they go out there and in the defence of the pilots they reakon wot they do is hug the ground for about 2-3miles out from the taking off and then pull up hard then bank off sharply!!!! as they reakon this makes em a harder target than being high :shock:  :shock: ..................but it looks damn good when they do it :wink:
