Possible brake problems...aaargh need help
« on: October 16, 2006, 13:46:41 »
Hi All

Firstly apologies that its my first post and its a problem

I have a M plate 300tdi ES (manual) that for a little while has felt like the rear brakes are binding when moving first thing in morning.

I had the wheels off yesterday, and from what i can see the pads still have some life in them. I then took it out of gear and spun the rear wheels to see if they were catching....they both spun freely with no noises.

This morning i pulled away and they felt like they were binding again...i drove about 3 miles and then had to park the car on a slope (facing downwards) with handbrake on for 5 minutes. When i released the handbrake the car wouldnt move.... i had to engage gear and force the car down the slope.
A bit nearer to work i was caught in slow moving traffic...and the brakes felt like they were binding again occasionaly.

Any idea's????
I have it booked into a garage on Wednesday...but i am towing my caravan over to the Isle of White on Saturday and so am panicking a bit now.

Cheers

Rgds Brad

Have you checked the transmission brake isn't binding?
