:D Read something interesting this morning don't know if it's true they reckon that if you move lane in the middle of a time control on spec's they can't do you?? because the camera's are dedicated to each lane it see's you going in but not coming out? :?  :?

Sounds like an old wifes tale to me!!

There are ways rounds specs systems but its not worth it, its one of the few cam systems i actually take notice of and obey the speed limit for!

When my other half has to go to nottingham city hospital the ring road is full of them it just get's me as to having to watch your speed all the time rather than the road i'm just thinking about fitting a speed limiter to the land rover to keep me from straying to high on the limit

can't see that would be true as the specs camera they have anti clockwise on the M25 around jct 18 does all 3 lanes so i'm sure that lane dedicated cameras have the ability to do all 3 just in case  :(

It is a fact. Thanks to the home office - google for it. Essentially if you enter on lane 2 and leave in lane 1 ..... it is a loophole.

Sorry - its urban legend, no doubt started with someone who's been caught.

Old Specs used to have a camera per lane - the new system has one camera for many lanes. The camera is only a bog standard (IR) CCTV camera, its the funky bells and whistles software that looks at the images that does all the work.

As always there is a test for these things - belt about for a day or two, then sit the letter box and wait  :P
I'm working on it.

According to the Independent newspaper the Home Office didn't spend enough to get the camera that will accommodate lane switching vehicles.

the manufacturer said it could be done but the government didn't buy that option.

AIUI the story is innacurate.  First generation systems could only track vehicles that entered and exited a SPECS zone in the same lane.  Later systems do not suffer this issue.  So not a good idea to test it!
