fuel pump
« on: October 03, 2004, 10:32:27 »
I have a mitsubishi 2.8td fitted to my range rover. The question is, Do I need to fit an electric fuel pump in line as well as the engine mounted pump. The reason I ask is because I have problems starting the car the day after a long journey. The fuel seems not to get through.Filters are all ok.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks Paul

Hi mate
if this is a pre 1996 (ish) engine/pump and came from a pajero it will proberly need a rebiuld to change the seals, 95/96 was when they changed to electric fuel pump, the problem will get worse.
to find out more look here http://www.pocuk.com/phpBB2/ search for fuel pump and it will turn up thousends of pages as its a common problem on pajeros.
Cheers
Colin.

Thanks Colin.
Think its pre 96 with a mechanical pump. But I have no idea what it came out of.What I was wondering was is it possible to fit an inline electric pump to ease the workload on the main pump.Whilst increasing the amount of fuel reaching the engine.
The problem isnt all the time, just 1 in every 3 days after long runs.
Cheers Paul
The site looks interesting
