Yep, 2-pack/cellulose will cease to be available from the paint manufacturers from January 2007......but suppliers/distributors will have some stocks - the whole industry has to go over to water-based paint, to try and plug the hole in the atmosphere !

AKAIK, it's not going to be illegal to use 2-pack, you just won't be able to buy it anymore.........I'm buying a couple of extra gallons of the colour I've chosen for the 110 - just in case !!

The problem is that the paint manufacturers haven't perfected a clear coat yet. All water based colours will have to be clear coated rather than just metallics like before. So at present, 2 pack is the only way to do it. According to the body shop around the corner from us, it is unlikely that a suitable clear coat will be available before the regulations start. So there will probably a waiver on some products until a suitable alternative is developed.

Apparently the water based stuff washes off!

Government drunk on their own power I think.

Landrover use water based paint....i think they could benefit from some people who actually spray the vehicle panels fully though rather than cutting corners, some newer defenders have shocking paint jobs wiht some very patchy thin "bits" in the spraying.
