  I have to wonder what Iv'e been running on for the past couple of years.  265/70 R16  G-TRAX  AT, is what it says on all five tyres on mine. Mates Disco has the same size in MT.
  Lite cut to rear arches, and trim plastic vallance under ftont bumper, no lift needed.

having done a good deal i`m just about to DOWNSIZE to 235/75 R16 in colway MT form, i`m thinking this will assist in gearing, increase claerance(as 235/85`s were a tad close for my liking...

i understand this is standard size on the 300TDI`s?

Hey guys i have a2" lift, i've cut out my arches alot to fit wheel arch spats front and back (Including the rear doors!) and i have extended bump stops. Can someone give me an idea on the biggest tyre i can fit on standard freestyle alloys?

My 200 disco is running 235/85/16 at's with a 2 inch suspension lift and no apparent arch trimming - I was wondering if my 265/75/16's on 8 spokes will fit off my 130 defender as a temporary thing until I can afford a better set of boots for the disco or will I need to do a bit of trimming? :?: .  

Also, as the discovery is pretty much a play thing, is it worth the hassle of trying to squeeze something like 35/12.5/15s on or should I just stick to a decent 235/85 or similar?  Been looking at either recips, machos or insa turbo special tracks

do you want width (thus greater footprint over the area) or bite (narrower tyre with more pressure over the area)??

I have got a 1994 v8 disco with a 2inch lift, anyone no the best tyre size to put on it?? (well what will fit with no chopping). Also anyone know what kind of milage you get out of the bf goodrich ATs and the bf goodrich MTs, I can't decide which ones to go for, Cheers rob

ive got a set of 286/75/16 BFG muds which were run on a td5 defender driven hard most of the time. towing too. theyve done 60,000 miles and are only half worn at most.
id recommend them to anyone. great in the dry and wet!

I've looked in all the sources I can think of and not managed to find this, so can anyone here help? I'm trying to find either the "official" tyre speed rating for a 300 TDI Disco or if there isn't one an official top speed?

Need to know as I fancy a set of Insa Turbo Saharas next time and while I have no intention of doing 106mph (they're Q-rated) I know insurers can be awkward if you don't fit the correct rating.

Right..... Standard discovery..... 2" lift comming at somepoint in the near future.... whats the max size I can go for?? Bearing in mind Camel Cut is not an option at this time??

 have got a 94 300 tdi disco riding on 235/70/16 whats the biggest i can go to without a lift of panel chopping anyone used insa rangers any good as i used to have colway ctrax a t in 31/10.50/15 8 spokes on my 200 tdi with hd standard hieght springs, rubbing on rear arches on heavy offroading.
 anyone have pictures or drawing with measurment on how much to cut out on a camel cut ?

got  2" lift on my disco   and some one has kindly left me a set of 7.50r 16 michelins on wolf rims :lol:   tried them on full lock and they dont rub like my 235's do ,but would I have to cut the arches  ????   for when I go off road????

I'm considering a 1in lift and 235/85 R16s with trimmed arches. Looking at the guide the 235/85s are 2.3in larger diameter than the 235/70s, which equates to an extra inch above and below the axle. A 1in lift should provide the extra clearance needed above them?

I'm trying to avoid lifting it too much as I realise this will make it less stable on side slopes and while cornering. Plus it'll reduce wear on propshafts, etc. Not likely to happen for a while but I'm just gathering information with a view to assembling the parts over time.

One of my mates in the Discovery Owners Club is running 235/85R16 with no lift! Just new suspension and a camel cut.

I've looked at it with mine which is also on new springs and it looks fine for me as well, so a purchase is imminent.

Fair enough - I notice a lot of 1in lift springs are also described as "heavy duty" I think I'd still buy new shocks, springs, and brake lines as that'd give me more droop too.

I don't want to end up with a huge-tyred monster that is only really challenged by pay and play sites, as I much prefer a bit of gentle laning. However, on a couple of occasions I've been in a situation where an extra inch or so of clearance under the diffs would do wonders, and an inch of lift won't run into problems with castor angle or propshafts.

I have searched and looked all this post so I hope this question from a novice does not make you snigger too much.

I have a 2001 V8 with 18s, I wanted a spare set of rims so I have got hold of set of 16s with 255-65 (actually from a Range Rover Mark II HSE)

I just assumed they would be alright as the tyre places show them interchangeably

Disco 200 / 300tdi standard height will run something like "General Grabers" 235/85r16 & will just require a trim to the rear of the rear arch lip. We done this on a friends 300tdi & he had no troubles even when towing heavy loads!

I used to have a Disco 1 series with a 2" lift running 235/85r16's & camel cut to rear. When purchased it had colway mt's that were nacked so fitted "Receip Trials" same size with & had no rubbing issues! And no problem's with uj's or standard props!

Then changed tyres to 238/85r16 "Insa Turbo" special tracks!! thinking more agressive but same size so wouldn't have any issue's!! Had rubbing issue's when offroading only! I had to cut quite a bit from front arches as they ripped both front wings & started to peel outer door skin from rear doors! Turn's out when measuring they tyre's the Insa's were 1" bigger.

As for the insurance side of thing's (re speed rating earlier in posts) don't think it will cause you any problem as the tyres are still rated to over 70mph and that is the speed limit! :-k
