Steering Wheels
« on: November 05, 2006, 21:34:24 »
I know this is a topic which (like insurance) crops up frequently, but...........

Does anyone in the West Yorkshire area have a smaller diameter steering-wheel on their 90/110??

I'm still considering swapping the wheel & would like to at least feel an 'after-market' wheel, because I'm not too keen on the idea of the spacer/adaptor that seems to be required.
I like the disance that the wheel is away & don't want it any closer.
I do like the Momo that's on the Twisted Animation demonstrator 90 in the December issue of 'LRM' (it's just that damn adaptor  )

It's also tempting to go to a couple of scrappers over the next couple od days (off Monday & Tuesday)  and look at Rover cars to see what looks appropriate - spline-wise as well.

I'm a bit far away from you to have a go but I have a MOMO very similiar to the one you are talking about. Works fine and I like the feel. However I have never had a standard wheel so I can't compare. Hmmm.  On second thoughts, I'll just shut up as I'm not really any help am I?!

320mm is the smallest you want to go IMHO
300mm is too small
you can get the boss from Gigglepin4x4.net that keeps the wheel in the standard place.
I have a Momo Corse on my 90 and have fitted the Momo Tuner to my wifes 110 XS
so we have both the adapters for the momo wheels from Raid and they each move the wheel 50mm or so towards the driver.

I'll check that one out, thanks.
50mm (2inch) seems far too excessive for my (personal) liking

Got a smaller wheel on mine too (mountney I think) works good. I need it though cos mine has Rover seats in.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

Me too, a mountney thet is, but i need mine cos i'm........................fat

The wheel itself works well. Wheel and boss IIRC moved it away from the driver, but i could be wrong.
