Blown a seal
« on: November 07, 2006, 17:07:48 »
I have a 90 thats been retro fitted with a rangerover V8 and what I believe is the LT95 box (4 speed with the vacum diff lock)

I'm in the process of reconstruction as a trialer as the previous owner never maintained it and the seal is gone at the back of the box releasing oil into the handbrake.

is there anything I need to be aware of? I have the prop off and the drum and shoes, so ready to go whenI get the seal.

Nothing truely nasty, there should be a catcher for any oil leak to run the oil out of the brake drum and down the outside of the backplate.

I don't think oil leaking will be an issue, IF there is any oil in there, the landy is on its side anyway (easiest way to weld the chassis)

Thanks for that though, its good to know there should be no shocks
