No not at the back!!
I was wondering if I was to put a tow bar on the front bumper would it be able to support the weight of about 100kg so I could manouver my caravan into my garden easier?
I would unbolt it once the job is done and would never use it for recovery.
Any advise would be good as this is just an idea at the mo.

Hi MuddyJames,
I know someone who had a bracket made up that I think fitted between the front bumber mounts with a towball on it (would seem a strong point to mount it too). He kept it in position all the time, and used it regularly for getting his caravan in and out of storage.
The ball was mounted off-centre to the near-side to enable a clear view fron the driving seat down the side of the 'van (had to go very tight between 2 others in storage).
If I remember correctly he just got a local engineering firm to make it up for him.

ive got a tow ball bolted onto my winch bumper, is quicker to put rope on etc, i have also bolted a drop plate on before with ball on to bumper had had trailor hanging on it, to move easier and winch a dead car ie just the shell up onto a trailor.
never had a problem.
have you got standard bumper on yours? are they the same thickness plate as a 90, my mate has a pin hitch on his 90 bumper just braced behind with 10mm plate, was plenty stong enough, he has also fabed an aframe and the pivots are fitted the same way, goes behind a tractor now and agin.
for 100kg you probbably could get away with slightly braceing a standard bumper

If you get a pair of 'Jack-Mates', they provide 3 services;
1.
Recovery Rings (for shackles/winch hook)
2.
High-Lift tubes (with a 90/110 adaptor)
3.
a front mounted detachable towing point (can be swapped side-to-side)
Plus they're very unobstrusive.
When I sold my Discovery, Andy Stokes ('Range Rover Blues') bought them, if you're interested he may take pictures for you??

Yeap, BTMs old set are now on RRR for that very reason, oh and you can do recovery with them too.
RRC and Disco have a provision for carrying abouyt 100Kg of equipment such as winches on the front bumper, so the noseweight won't be an issue either.
Defenders thrive on it, most army units have a coupling in the bumper.
Just one more thing a LR product can do that jap-c**p can't.
