Truck cab
« on: November 09, 2006, 20:06:41 »
I'm picking up a truck cab roof saturday afternoon which is still attached to its rear panel. Is it just a case of unbolting it to fit it into the back of the 110?
And are some of the same fixings from the hard top used to put it on?

Cheers

yes it's easy to unbolt. You have special fixings to the chassis at the bulhead and brakets on back of bulkhead. 10mm bolts and special retaining plates on windscreen.

Looks like I'll need to get some fixing brackets for the bulkhead then. Would the retaining plates from the windscreen/hardtop roof be the same?

Have you got a real tailgate?
Unpassable you say?!
Just because you own a truck, doesnt mean you can drive..

Yep tailgate comes with it, I just need to get some hinges for it. I like the idea of the waffle board holders across the back but that may be further down the road

Does anyone know where I can get a set of the brackets that attach it to the bulkhead or have a parts number?

Another question, would the roof lining from the hard top also fit the truck cab roof?

yes and no

The outside ones will, there a further 3 IIRC that go along the back that are rectangular - lot of help there       Sorry don't have part no.s but speak to any decent Independent LR parts place and conversation will be easy.

To answer previous question windscreen brackets - yes they are the same. Headlining wont fit at rear of truck cab, you'll need a TC one which has top, side panels and strip along bottom of rear. Most people going to a TC don't fit a headlining and just use insulating matting or even camping mats.  :)

I now have everything needed to fit but before I do I'm going to respray it. I can't decide whether to paint the roof the same red or paint it white like the original hardtop. (its grey primer at the moment)
What have others painted theirs?

<--------------avatar for piccy (roof is black).

I bought some felt and some vinyl headlining material for mine. I plan on unbolting the roof and sticking it on.

My roof (completly unlined) made a load boing sound, a bit lie rlf harris wobbble board thingy. I stuck roofes tape across it, and it deadened the sound considerably. I hope the felt will do it some more.
