Oil filter removal is worse.

A diff lock drain plug helps with the other end.

I always end up with the axle and propshaft covered in oil off the filter housing. Perhaps I'm too slow.

I usually slacken the filter off with an old carrier bag underneath, then pull the bag up over the filter and spin it off into the bag.

Just watch out for the bags with the holes in the bottom!

You see.
Some people are clever like Chris

and then
there's me.

I'll look forward to it now.
Another ad for Difflock. I bought a very nice large drip tray from him that stops the drive getting it.

But, at least it keeps your hands warm in the winter when the plastic bag's in your pocket

I bought one of the oil safe kits from difflock, quite expensive.... but def. worth it.

Filling up the gearbox and transfer box is now a piece of piddle... simply hook the pipe in the gearbox, get out from under the landy and pump the handle on bottle.... simple!!! :D
Better than the garden sprayer I tried in the past... will quite happily pump EP90 (though I use a synthetic version - not from difflock though - which seems to flow better)

No more struggling to get your pipe in the hole (?!?) and ending up with oil all down your arm.

Well recommended!

Good trick for changing oil filters, is to punch a small hole in the bottom, with a centre punch to drain it first. Stops it running down your arm.
