My 1990 Pickup cab only has the 1990 factorty fitted radio in it...no aerial, and only a built in speaker.

I'm either lookng at one of these http://www.mobilestoragesystems.fsnet.co.uk/store-caddy.htm
Which would make sense as I'm after a locking cubby box anyway. The other option (Which would presumably be easier to wire) is http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Dashconsole.html

Which has the added advantage of blanked plates for switches (if and when I start putting extras in!)

TWO QUSTIONS REALLY:

Is the wiring that provides power to the current radio going to be enough to be enough to power a modern day radio/cd?

Where on earth would you put speakers in a truck cab? I have 2 6x9s from a previous car which I'd like to use if possible.[/url]

Hi James

My last 90 was a truck cab, and I put my speakers into old tuppaware boxes (cut a hole in the lid) and just dropped them behind the seats. Did a pretty passable job of getting the sound out - even after I went soft top with the roof off!

About to put some tunes into the new 90, but am going to put them into the dash rail just above the driver and passenger knees - the supposed "standard" place. Time will tell if this is actually any good!

Hmm i reckon u could get some 10cm ones in rooflinin... i ahve just put 13s in mine, though mine is HT.

Did yours come with the side hinged tailgate? Did it come with hinged wheel mount or did you fit that yourself? I'm half tempted because of the space mine's taking up behind the cab.

I built the cd player and all the speakers into a cabinet that goes behind the bulkhead in the back of my 90.  Means I can take the whole lot out when playing in the water or if I need to get a load in.  Works a treat after I filled the box with the appropraite sound deadening material, buzzed a bit before that.

They build to order and it took 3-4 weeks :) Less than LR headlining and with stereo additions better for me.
