Convert disco to auto
« on: November 15, 2006, 08:04:08 »
How much would be involved in converting a 96 300 TDI manual disco to an auto box?

Has this been covered before?

Thanks

Mike

Try a search with '300tdi auto manual' as the keywords and search for all terms - quite a few results, not sure exactly what answers you're looking for but they'll probably all be there in some form or other!

You'd want the box from a Diesel auto, selector, console, pedal box, radiator and cooling pipes, some wiring changes depending on what's there already. etc etc

Yes, AFAIK the manual uses the sausage in front of the rad for the gearbox oil, an auto ALSO uses the passenger side of the rad on a 3.9 and the driver's side does the engine oil.

The TDI auto boxes are quite rare and when they do come up they are usually quite expensive.  My 90 has this conversion.

I got the impression that these boxes were both rare and expensive! Another plan goes West!
