Make sure you have the correct air con unit for your year and then copy mine. I have to remove my dash to gain access to the aircon unit on the passenger side. You will also need the second rad at the front of the vehicle along with the twin electric fans. This may affect some of the other items on the front end. The aircon pump bolts to the cylinder head, as you know mines a v8 so make sure the one you buy is from the same model etc as yours as the brackets will differ. Give me a shout when your going to fit it and I’ll give you a hand.

I don't know about the TDi but on a V8 the airconn also affects the engine ECU, the wiring on Air conn is something to behold.

Theres two styles, a really early version and one used from 1991 onwards until the facelift in 1994.  They both do the same job but the way to tell is the fans, the early fans are mounted so the fan blades run accross the car the later ones mount so the fan rotor face front to back.  My old disco had the early sytem but the fans and evaporator was knackered, got another from eblag but it was the later one.  I found all the mounts were the same but the temperature sensor was different.  The top mouldings are different as is the connection to the centre vents.  Wiring was like spagetti too.
