HI - i am new to discovery ownership and have the chance of a set of rims 7J x 1 to fit off road tyres on. These came off a Range Rover Vogue classic. Will these fit ok on my 987 R reg 300tdi ?

Hi,

The simple answer is yes, they will fit the studs ok but you need to check the offset, otherwise the tyres might catch on the radius arms on full lock.

Sorry to sound a bit thick - but what do you mean by offset and how do I check it?

If the Range Rover wheels are factory-fit alloys, then they'll fit the Disco with no real issues.

offset is the distance between the surface of the wheel that fits up against the axle hub and the centre line of the wheel. Changing the offset will move the wheels either in and out.

Thanks for asking!  I thought I was the only one in the Mud Club doesn't know all these terms.  Whew!  Some of the guys in here think nothing of swapping out transmissions in their spare time, while I'm doing pretty well with changing my own oil.

I've got a LOT to learn...

A Disco is based on a RRC anyway, same axles and all.  I've never seen aftermarket alloys with a worse offset than factory alloys anyway.
