Alternator question.

Hi!
I'm planning on upgrading my 45 amp alternator to 65 amp as i'm planning on fitting a few creature comforts in the near future, and well they are a bit electrical hungry. And ATM 38 amps is drawn by the head and the 6 driving lamps.
The 65 amp alternator is a 90 / 110 / 130 Additional part and so was fitted to some models. Be it a 2.5 or a 3.5 Having looked at one at brookwells ( my local parts place) It has the usual socket for the connector on my loom ( new auto sparks only last year) And there is two threaded terminals with nuts on them?
So what do they do? anyone got a piccy of the back of the alternator and an explantion of what they do.
Many thanks.

Do you have a picture ? If you have the multipole socket on there, then they are probably just connections for things like surpressors, etc.
If you didn't have the big connector, then you've usually got something like the following..
B (or B+) is the main charge feed... connects back to the starter motor or battery positive terminal.
W is an alternator sense wire
D is the dashboard indicator lamp

Ok cheers for that. I might have to go have a another look and see what is what. and take the camera.
For what i remember is that the is the standard tri pin connector inthe back and there there is the two threaded ones closer in. One does have a W beneath it but can't remember what the other did have or even if i did in the first place.
A tach might be a good usefull thing to have.
