Thanks mate.  I dont want to get into the debate of the cows.  I want to find the site and see whats it about.  Nice one bud

Entrance off the road at
SO023769

The actual farm house is
SO030787

Was there last weekend, i'm not sure exactly whats going on there at the moment, but all the livestock has gone, its now pays as you go in and they are taking reg numbers as you go in so its definantly more profesional that it used to be.

As for whats it about, its an ex hill farm which is very slippy in the wet with plenty of places to get stuck if your not careful. Theres not much water though there are some large muddy puddles, there is not much to winch off either so good ground anchors or plenty of other vehicles to winch off are usefull.

There are some pics of toms farm in my photo archive.

but IMHO instead of boycotting the site why not offer to help get it sorted??
its plain to see that they cant do it alone ..

simon

Well, I'm sure the numerous pikeys who seem to live on the site (many in caravans fit only for burning; hence the 'van occupied' signs in many of them) would have been able to help, if it had been asked for. Tom and his wife seemed perfectly happy riding around on a quad talking to people all day long. As long-standing, experienced hill farmers, they should KNOW how to look after their livestock better than people with less experience.
For my 2 penn'orth; yes, it's a lovely part of the country, yes, it's a great off-roading site BUT there is NO marshalling, NO marked tracks or one way system, and apparently NO consideration or common sense from the dozens of dirt bike riders who hurtle around the site (and through our camp at 5.45 am!!) IMO it's an enormous accident just waiting to happen...

the thing is with tomms place you can do what you want and when you want, thats all prt of being there,
anybody who has been there recently will know about the registrations being taken down and names being taken also, these are for the books !!! and not for fun
the breezes are trying to get it registered as a proper off road course at the moment. if some of the people who actualy rant about him being a cruel bas...d then they must have not been there, i personaly know of a number of people who drive surfs and discos and zuukis
they all seem to want him hung up like a chicken !!!!
BUT PLEASE DONT FORGET HE IS IN PRISON FOR HIS WRONG DOINGS AND WILL BE FOR A WHILE.
before any more namby pamby wimpy sunday drivers with the atitude i have a four wheel drive so i am the god attitudes slag him off anymore then i suggest you drive down there and do some proper off roading
and not just the crap and diabolickle pitence you call pay and play days
these are biased and refuse entry to most vehicles purely for off road use
there are very little sites nowadays where you just play all day and rome free
instead of slagging of any more why not wait for the outcome of the inquest and actually see if it gets registered as an off road site
after all that is there intention.
just spend a minute chatting with mrs breeze and you will find out for yourself
lastly to finish my rant
chelsea tractors and sunday drivers who think they can off road get a life and buy a people carrier for your kids, because half of the 4x4s only get used for school runs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rant over now
thanks for bearing with me you may or may not agree with me but these are my own appinions and mine to bear
i have been off roading for over 17 years with lannys, rangies, dihatsuies, zuukis, then lannys agian, now finaly a unimog
and i will look forward to the next 17 years also

I don't "Off road"
Well I have once in my 110 Defender dune driving in Namibia.

My Defender is an expedition vehicle not a Sunday mud plug toy.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
My choice is not mud plugging it's far to expensive both in time and money.

Let me get this straight, I shouldn't "Slag him off" for mistreating animals inc letting a rams horns grow so much that is grew into its own eye just because he has a fantastic off roading site?!
Sorry, but I dont quite see the logic

mr breeze did not actualy get sent to prison for animal cruelty !!!!
he was sent to prison for breaching a court order in fact......
I do not personaly agree with what he has done and i will never will agree with animal cruelty like everybody else.
i cannot coment on what went on because i was not there when everything was happening,
but the guy is now in prison and doing time for his crime, of this i agree... but on the outcome of this happening mrs breeze ( liz )  is actualy trying to get it registered as an oficial course with public liability insurance also and restricting it for events also. this may be a good thing or it may not but give her and him eventualy a chance to do so.
untill then people should not really rip into folk unless they can stand up and fend for themselfs... backstabbing is not a fair and recognised hobby of mine...
as for sunday drivers in 4x4s who never actualy use the 4x4 mode !!!!.whats that all about ???? supermarket running or just inferiority complex needing the feeling of being boss on the road.. i have personaly cut up loads of 4x4s and the majority the levers are nearly always seezed solid through never being used...
i to drive a 110 lanny for work and pleasure purposes and yes it gets off roaded as much as my unimog...
these are my views and my own opinions everyone has the right for free speach in this country,,, but backstabbing should be kept for politicians and not normal everyday people trying to say what they feel and do what they want in life .
everybody lives and eventualy  dies whether you like it or not,, we all get a bum deal in life and have to make ends meet. unless you are born into the world of money !!!!!!
rant over now me fingers hurt
happy off roading

i don't think boycotting the place because of the animal cruelty issues is 'backstabbing' at all... i just think it shows that some people have morals and principles...
i'm not realy into the whole 'pay and play' thing.... and no, i'm not a school run pilot or a chelsea tractor driver... i just find driving round and round a load of boggy fields or quarrys a bit dull.....

and i don't have the attitude "ive got a 4x4 so i'm a god" i'd just rather do it in the real world... like the sahara or australia's snowy mountains (driven both) than in a field full of self important people who think they know it all because they've been driving around in fields and quarries since god was a boy.
if you want to pay these people to drive around in their fields, knock yourself out, but don't think it gives you the moral high ground.. or makes you 'hardcore'...

i'm not having a dig at all of you who do the pay and play thing, its not my thing, but i know loads of you are into it.... but it doesn't make you more of a 4x4 enthusiast...

he was told to get rid of the animals because they could see what harm was being done to them. he refused and so he went to court.
this is a fact, because i asked a mate who lives next door.
i have been to tom's farm, grat place, and great offroading, however the drawback from his place is that because it is so "roam free" you have all sorts of scramblers/bikes/4x4's all in the same place.. there are ltos of accidents.

Ive been there and camped a couple of times.
Very rough and ready, ok its a dump.

I remember I think he had an issue a year or so ago with been able to have motorsports and farming on the same bit of land. Not sure for certain.

Tom struck me as an old fellow, getting a bit old and immobile for farm work. My mate once found him under is quad - he couldn't have shifted that by himself. Sounds like hes reached the end of the road regards farming. give the gut a break, without knowingALL the facts, and the press is hardly unbiased (just look at the comments on this site about the LR mags and advertising). seems some are quick to judge and take the moral high ground.

Another year and he'll get his pension.

Site is big, and you can do as little as you want, or do crazy things get stuck, churn the ground up, and winch to youre hearts content. it up to you when youre there.

The site entrance couyld definatly do with a makover though, especially all the warning signs. Banning, or resticting motorcross bikes, to some areas would be good though. (My mate and I once went around the top, to find a feloow stuick in some boggy peat. The other motor bikes ignored him, whicle we gave him a hand. also they seemed to have no regard for the fact that if they cut you up, they might die, whereas you'll just feel a bump, but then neither do motorcyclists on the road.- que flaming!)

I spoke to one of my customers today, who is a neighbour to this farm. She has confirmed that they are trying to close it down, not because of the damage to the actual land but because of the dangerous driving going on to and from the site.
She understands that the owners have been told that if they wish to charge for the use of the land, then they will have to apply for Planning Change of Use from agricultural to motorsport/commercial.
She also believes that the Environment Agency are also now involved, due to pollution of the waterways in the area.
