Hi Ya,

:) We orderd a roof light bar for our discovery and because me parents dont want to do it there selfs we gave in to a garage who we know. But they didnt have clue #-o how to put it on and left a nice mess off holes in the roof!!! We got it from all 4 wheels .com and had to wait about three weeks then another for the garage to put it on and now dosent fit. Please does any one know how to put it on our disco?!?!

P.S. me parents said that if we still cant do it then they will let one of you guys to put it on. If so pm let me know and you can organise something with me parents.

Make sure the light bar is sitting flat with the ends at the lowest point,
These bits sit in the gutter so the bar itself is at the front of the gutter over the windscreen.

You then drill through the gutter where the holes are, and these bits go underneath the gutter and you bolt through the lot.

You'll probably need to cut the bottom of the bolts off or fit the bolts upside down so they don't affect the opening of the door.

Also a good idea to loose fit the lights you're using on it before drilling anything so that you know the lamps will fit without resting on the windscreen or anything.

It is a bit confusing with nothing to compare it to! :D

Before I had a snorkel to run cables up the side of I had a roof rack with lights - I ran some 4core flex up the side of the windscreen rubber trim on the glass side and carefully drilled through the rubber and ty-wrapped the cable in place with some small 4" ty-wraps. Only replaced them once

and you had to look twice to realise there was a cable there.

If you run the cable up on the same side you would fit a snorkel if you ever do fit one it will hide the holes/cable anyway.

We have a lot of runs out into Derbyshire, by default we seem to always encounter Stanage edge somewhere in the day, we tend to work round the peak district - but we have done a few runs further south too.

Quite a few runs are not put onto the Mud-Club greenlaning section as they are just a couple of friends who've agreed to meet up after a chat in the pub.

Just had mine fitted by a mate...did a grand job...althoufgh he hadn't done it before either!! Have got a cut off switch also , so i can have them independant to the main beam if i want!! Hey but who does...looks mega now!

Also got hold of a bull bar today...Ã‚Â£50 and fitted by my super friendly 4x4 garage...CLASP. Discos looking good..will get an up to date photo soon....am off up to Lake District this weekend with a few of the mud-club lads for a wander!!

Keep your driver window shut when it's raining if you use a gutter mounted light bar . . . . . it pisses in all over if you don't cos the gutter wont drain properly

Not trouble mate, the improvment in night light when lamping rabbits, cough!!! . . . I mean laning . . . . is more than worth the hassle of a little wet stuff getting in.

Bear in the mind the legal issues of high mounted lamps . . . . don't wire them into your mainbeams unless you can isolate them . . . it's well illegal to use them on the road . . . . could also be an MOT failure

You see roof mounted lights on loads of HGV's - so why are they illegal on 4x4's?

Thinking of getting a light bar but struggling to decide between buying a rack and adding mounts - decisions decisions.....

Cheap is a good price :D and you'll find even an expensive lamp won't be at it's best that high off the ground anyway.
