stolen from under our noses

At work today hedge cutting, and our brand new £400 stihl back pack blower (br 380) was  stolen from under our noses! we had just cleared up and were putting the tools back in the truck and when we looked up there was a white nissan cabstar with garden services written on the cab and the bloke in the passenger seat was laughing and held up the blower to show us before speeding off! we were unable to get reg number in time, called the police on 999 but they never even bothered to show up! thought about giving chase in the truck but that would have meant leaving more tools unattended in the garden!  this happened in a very quiet cul-de-sac in Radlet Hertfordshire! was going to up load pic of blower but cant figure it out

Bar stewards...    Not only theiving scum but rubbing your nose in it. Typical police response though, not too bothered unless its a motoring offence...

Must be a pikey, the way he was laughing, they think the have got the god given right to chaw.  

The pikeys had me mates, dad's caravan of his drive full up ready to go on holiday , never seen again :shock:  :shock:

i caught someone on site where we were working  stealing 10lts of our paint and loading it on the back of his truck .

when he was clear of the car park i went over and opened the tub and turned it over  :lol:  

if he'd asked nicely i would have probaly sorted him some out to take !

pikeys had my 110 Td5 away in january this year... police never even showed up...

i'd have a drive round to that address, and if its them, go back with some mates....

don't bother with the plod, all they seam to want to do is drive about eating doughnuts these days..... :roll:

Unfortunately the police wont go into many situations because of the ammount of times that it gets used against them or the risk of being sued, there is no cover for them within the local forces for that situation.  

In my view if the local forces could provide them with some personal legal cover to stop them getting personally sued every 5 mins then there wouldnt be so many issues.

Also alot of the pikeys on sites are armed with shotguns, the basic plod arent going to go into that without armed back up and its wrong to expect them to.

As a serving officer I am saddened by the off the cuff comments here.

Agreed..... but I can  assure you my comments are not of the cuff, not blaming you boys on the ground directly but it saddens me that public opinion about the Police is sutch that alot of people have little faith in the service.........

my comments may well be "off the cuff" but they are formed from personal experiences... such as my 110Td5 being stolen, and thepolice were not even interested in turning out, it weas fitted with a tracker, and i was told by an officer over the phone "if we happen to come across it, we'll let you know"

you could hardly miss a 7' high 110 on 35" simexes, complete with light bar on the roof and huge winch....

...as i'm sure you've already worked out, it was never seen again.

the adverage 'man on the street' forms his opinion on personal experiences, when we get nicked for stupid driving offences, and treated like terrorists, we can hardly be expected to be supportive when the police don't even show up after 20K worth of landrover goes missing...

...and the reason? ...because it was almost certainly stolen by gypsies....

Without wanting to sound provocative what would you have been happy with officers doing which would have left you feeling positive? (Call this market research if you like) :?:

Few gypsies IME have the wherewithall to bypass a tracker, I'm surprised as any vehicles that gypsies do take (tinkers, not Romany) tend to be transit or Jap pick-ups.  :?

Round here everyone blames scousers.... fact is most crimes are committed by someone within a quarter of a mile of home (domestic burglary, TWOC or Theft from motor vehicle).

Now Landies that go bump in the night either get nicked for there contents or stripped and sold to peeps in bits at the likes of Old Sod who are willing to turn a blind eye. Modern Landies tend to go en mass and will be organised groups bunging them in containers next to be seen in south africa or the Eastern block.  Tinkers are making too much fleecing old dears for tarmac'ed driveways and other sinister scams from my experience. Any direct theft is usually Diesel, mini diggers and plant.
