Watching VH1 Classic at the moment and the 90's at 9 show.  They just played Blondie - Maria, does anyone else think that Debbie Harry's voice got so much better by that point?  Its just a shame they only really had the 1 hit that late in the day as with that newer voice she should have done so much better!

Oh no, the 90s are becoming retro chic, and I was feeling too old the first time around.

Next thing will be the 70s revival revival.

I know, I posted a link to a Steve Earle video (from 'YouTube') for someone on another forum (OLLR) & the difference in his appearance between then & now
I remember seeing him when he looked like that  on the promotional tour for his 2nd album'Exit 0' (1987?)

But for good voices with great music then there is 2 who spring to mind more, P j Harvey, her brand of weird music is fantastic, and of course the very underrated Lisa Marie Presley, only like the "To Whom It May Concern" album, although the new one "Now What" is looking just as good as its predeccessor (i cant spell) although anything before to whom it may concern sucked eggs lol

How about for 90's ladies;

 Siouxsie Sioux??
There was always a certain 'something' about her, but  at certain points in her career if you look closely, her facial features scarily resembled Cherie Blair :(scared):

'Echo Beach'

'What's Up?' (I remember the first time I ever heard this, I was just about to cross the Tamar (road) bridge.

Question.
Is this thread mainly sticking to rock/pop (for want of a better expression) or is it just 90's ladies???
If not here's a few more contributions

Liz Fraser of This Mortal Coil (an offshoot of the Cocteau Twins)'Song to The Siren'

80's Ladies (sorry wrong decade  Got this as a single downstairs  )

Any Man Of Mine (thankfully, pre-Leopardskin, etc.... & all the better for it)

Siouxsie Sioux, 90s?  I have "Cities in Dust" by Siouxsie and the Banshees on Now 6, which I got for my tenth birthday back in 1986, and I thought that was quite a way through her career already.  Haven't really been aware of her nearly so much since the 80s.

Nah, 90s music to me is epitomised by "There's No Limit" by 2 Unlimited.  Yeah, I think music went through a bit of a bad patch in the early 90s.

Ooo I remember seeing Kate Bush in Manchester - superb (showing age).

I must admit,  after seeing the live concert link you put on earlier we had a big discussion at work regarding DHarrys age and was surprised she was so old. Also if you google Debbie Harry there is one site saying "Naked Pics " - well, we had to look, better with her clothes on!

Sorry wrong era

I was thinking of the Goth era, rather that her original Punk days.
She was still the style-setter for all the Goth-girls

Spikey hair, leather, lace, fish-nets, high-heels, lots of black make-up.
Most of the girls dressed the same as well

it was the time of bands like
Sisters Of Mercy (ooh........ Patricia Morrison :D )
Southern Death Cult, aka; Death Cult, The Cult (BillyDuffys Gretsch White Falcon)
Alien Sex Fiend
X-Mal Deutschland
etc.......

Spear Of Destiny (great live)

Plus the rockabilly/punkabilly, which was my genre :wink: ;
King Kurt (very messy live  )
The Meteors

Stray Cats (great live, with a fantastic guitarist - Brian Setzer)
Restless (as good as the Cats live)
Dave Philps & The Hot-Rod Gang
The Cramps (just ..... weird)

The cramps rock!!!  If you like rockabilly and stuff, especially The Brian Setzer Orchestra or Brian Setzers 68 Comeback Special then log onto http://www.totalrock.com and listen in on a thursday night between 9pm and midnight.  Loads of weird stuff like the cramps, the meteors, reverend horton heat and of course Brian Setzer.  But then if you like Brian Setzer then maybe you should listen out for the Cherry Poppin Daddies???

Cherry poppin daddies are very much new swing, fitting in with the Brian Setzer orchestra.
