Rear Door Hinge

The rear door has dropped slightly on my 1990 disco 1. Can this be adjusted on the hinge side. If not then I am considering putting a shim under the bottom hinge. Are there any products out there for this or am I looking at begging and borrowing from a local metal works?.

When it comes to it will the door have to be completley removed or can I get away with just supporting it and removing or slackening off the bottom hinge to slide the shim in ?. I am guessing the hinges will have a back plate behind them inside the rear wing that will fall if I totally undo it.

Have a close look at the hinges. It's not uncommon for one end of one of the pins to shear, which can cause the problem you have.

If that is the case, then it's possible to replace the pin with a new one if you're suitably equipped. Alternatively, DII door hinges are a straight swap and are better made.

Before you go undoing the door hinges, have a look under the vehicle at the rear crossmember mounts and make sure they are intacked.

Mine did this just before the mounting on the drivers side collapsed. Door works fine now the body is back where it should be.

MINE USED TO CATCH ON THE BUMPER SLIGHTLY, KEPT GETTING WORSE.
REPLACED BOTH HINGES (AROUND £45 PAIR) NOW IT SHUTS PERFECTLY.
