Well isn't the actual village now 'custom' built in the grounds of Harewood estate??

Didn't the farm used to originally be up at Leathley (to the north-west ) of Otley

Then they used Esholt - off the A603, between Shipley & White Cross (where Harry Ramsdens is)
As far as I know they decided to recreate the village due to causing undue pressure on residents

The pub is still called the;

As for the ford.....

I'll force myself to try & watch the opening sequence & figure it out

The nearest ones (I know of) are;
Bardsey
Thorner (too awkward to film??)
Storiths
Dob Park

Hi Richard your quite right on all those, i know Esholt where the pub and the village are, quite right the filming all takes place in Harewood House, but to actually make a man made ford that looks that good must take some doing,so im sure it's filmed elsewhere, sometimes the landrover is shown on the beginning of emmerdale, then the ending of the first part/half,

Like myself i love yorkshire based films/programs, i was lucky enough to see some of the Heartbeat crew as they filmed in pudsey earlier last week, they film all the internal work in old mills and warehouses in pudsey and all the outside scenes at Goathland like we all know,

Good luck in the search for the ford , im looking deeper in to it,as we should be !!!! it looks quite open for dob park, though i could be wrong.

Yes, I once saw them filming in Otley. They'd turned the public toilets on the north side of the river (by the kids playgrounds) into a garage

Then I actually saw it on TV
Mr Derek (remember him on Basil Brush??) chased a motorbike up on Wheeldale Moor (Pickering - Grosmont road) & caught up with him at the toilets.
A heck of a chase in a Ford 100E??

Dob Park is a very rough base nowadays & quite wooded, so I take it that it's a road ford???

Try Wet Roads?????

well to my amazement , plus nothing been on tv, ive found where the ford is on Emmerdale,
By reading up on some articles on the net, true or not, the actual landrover going through the ford is (non crew)ie : member of public.
Whilst harewood house is kept under strict security and all the bridleways and public access are closed down, during filming public access etc..is returned to normal allowing ramblers/spectators to roam at their own leisure on the 3 bridleways that criss cross the estate, and view filming and so on

wouldnt it be good and very unlikely if we all watched emmerdale oneday and discovery went through that ford with a mud-club logo on the bonnet  :?    :D

well heres the map link if it works

The lanes around Stub House are (I'm fairly certain, but I'll check) 13th -14th C trackways that went to the monastic properties at Bardsey (from Bolton Abbey)

Don't quote me on that though (yet....)

Will check later, as it's bedtime (alarm goes off at 04:00)

I was at school (in York) with a chap who's family had a farm out passed Harrogate. They were, and still are big in eggs!

Thier farm was often used for filming and I can remember meeting Fraser Hines once while staying there for weekends away from school.

Most of the people I went to school with were Yorkshire farming stock and they never missed an episode  . This was the early 80s when it was still about farming of course

I Have been informed (by the old lady). That the ford is in a place Called Leathley.Don`t know if it is right.

The original farm house was at Leathley, there's no fords there.

You can see a ford on aerial photos of the set at Harewood House. As the set is at Stubb Farm on the estate, could be the credits are this ford.

There are bridleways running though the site but no byways that I could made out.

That look suspiciously like the ford at Wycoller

(going by what looks like the 'Clapper Bridge in the background, if you freeze-frame)

If not it could be Scarcroft?? (taken from other side)

There are no byways on the Harewood estate and i dont think that any of the bridleways on the estate do go through a ford it could be down on the actual set i know there is a bridge that you can just see from one of the bridleways but you cant make out if there is a ford down there  :?

The ford is man made, with the rest of the village on the harewood estate,
