Radio Fitting Problems

Hi again

I have a 200TDI Disco and have bought a new radio for it.  When I came to fit it I had a nightmare trying to get it to slot all the way in.  It appears to foul on the radio cabling on the last bit.

Is there a knack to slotting it in and keeping the wires out of the way?

I had the same problem. I have a slim line radio and it did fit better than the previous replacement. I took the centre console apart prior to fitting the radio. I also cut some of the rubber padding out from underneath the radio slot to give the back of the radio more space. This helped alot and  fitting the radio into the console and then re fitting the console did the trick. Its a bit of work but it is easier in the long run and gives a better looking end product. Mine fits flush now.

MINE HAD NO STEREO IN WHEN I GOT IT , BUT APPERENTLY STANDARD STEREOS IN RRC AND DISCO 200'S ARE SHORTER THAN AFTERMARKET ONES. MINE IS STILL STUCK OUT NOW!!

Like you say , it's the multi-plug and wires that stop the radio fitting home .
The plugs actually fit in the back of the disco radio , the only way  I know to fit an aftermarket model without altering the console is to find a new unit that also accepts plugs straight into the rear .
 I found some of the JVC models are a straight fit ! Not much consolation if you have just splashed out on something else tho'

Kenwood went straight in mine . . . . . once I susssd out how to move all the other wires and crap in the console that prevented it going all the way in.

Tight, yes, but they do fit . . . . but then, it's a 300 Tdi with the radio in the top of the console.
