Faster and Cheaper

I know i will get a few "told u so's" But since i removed the roof rack and swapped the muds for road tyres for the winter, the disco now accelerates upto 70 on the slip road on the way to work, as before it barely made 60. Marvellous!

Now, I knew that mud tyres affected fuel economy, but I never realised they affected acceleration - that MIGHT explain why my 300TDi off-road disco on MT's never seems quite as nippy as my 'best' Disco on AT's...... Plus the off-roader is weighed down with various bits of additional armour.

my disco is qiute sluggish on my grizzlies ,well more sluggish than when it's on at's anyway :D

Try riding a mountain bike on 'mud' tyres then one on 'road' tyres.  Its a great way of understanding how big a difference it makes.

That's why I've got ATs on my 'road/off-road' motor.

its why i have at's bfg's for my every day / green laning tyres and grizzlies for my playing in deep mud tyres. (this weekend is an exception as Im too lazy n tight bottomed to run mt's to bristol n back (110miles ish each way)
