Why not recvover em and leave them on the side of the road with stickers

'We may be climate killers but we just saved you £100's in recovery fees'

If I lived a bit closer I would be up for that. Trouble is you would probably end up getting sued for damaging thier cars!

If you find the owners you take along a typed letter saying during the recovery of your vehicle silver sharan reg no.............., you the driver accept all responsibilty for any damage caused to your own vehicle and anyother vehicle involved andanything else ie human, road surface etc and shall pay for all damages.

That is how myvoluntary group used to get around towing people out of a muddy field when we ran our festivle once a year and 99% of the time people are happy to sign it because if they didnt they were stuck there and if we saw anyone else towing cars we stopped them and escorted them off site.

Just have to find the owners!!!

i am concerned about  the amount of pollution going/gone into the river [-X

Ie all the different oils, fuel, battery acids, antifreeze the list goes on.....

im well up for a bit of recovery work if any siutably equiped people are up for it?? but would have to be done properly/safely (as always   )  incase the papers/radio got a snifff of whats going on

I havent got the gear but I'd be up for helping. I gues sthe issue here is what happenes when the owners get back. Batteries and oil shouldnt be a problem as they are more or less sealed systems, however fuel will probobly be if they stay there too long.

Cars are probobly gonna be toast already so I'm not sure how things would stand in terms of damaging them during recovery.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Has the people mover now been washed down stream and up to the roof with water? Any updated photos?

I am guessing with that ammount of water in them they will be very heavy to recover if not awekward.

I drove through a flood once in my rover 620 and water went over the bonnet. Guy who had just walked through told me it wasnt any deeper than knee height. I didnt know he was walking on the bank in the flood and also I made it through the deepest bit but paniked and put my foot down which was when the water went over the bonnet and put a piston out the oil sump. oops. didnt have a landy at the time. still have the rover with rebuilt engine and hug wood going strong at 217k on the clock. learnt my lesson though the hard way like the 2 guys have in the photos on pg1

This is in the local paper, she got caught in a flash flood...
Apparently she became trapped in rising water, yeah trapped as she tried to drive a car through 8ft of water.
It took 21 firemen and five engines to rescue her, from 3 different stations...unbelieveable, should have been charged for it.

Best quote in the paper

" Environment agency spokesman said the flooding was due to rainwater"
