Heated Seats in DII
« on: December 10, 2006, 14:58:35 »
Anybody got any tips on how to troubleshoot heated front seats on a Disco II?  My driver's side's not worked since I got the truck.

Thanks, David

I would assume its like the Volvo set up
Element in the seat
Relay
Switch
Wires
Might have a thermostat and timer?
The element should have some resistance if tested disconnected, not difficult if you know what you ar doing, but no doubt some one will be along in a min to tell you exactly what it is?
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

i,ve replaced one on a friends the original ones have a one piece element that covers the whole seat which breaks and then breaks the circuit but the new one that came from parts dept has a different design to stop it doing it apparently as its a common fault for the element to break
if i remember the plugs are at the back of the seat under neath i think you could test them for continuity around the circuit

There is a fuse module under the seat. Check that first

Proberbly got an ECU too like most other things on the disco 2, Apparently the Discovery 4 will have a bladder ECU which controls the drivers bladder on long journeys

As you can tell, I dont like ECUs much  :-({|=
