Not only did she win sports personality of the year, Zara is also the new face of Land Rover and the first Royal to feature in an advert.

She can be seen wearing a posh dress splattered in mud.

Do you think she'll join Mud Club next?

If not Mud-Club, then  www.carstuckgirls.com

Bad move from Land Rover in light of all the anti-4x4 propaganda which states they are status symbols etc.

Better than Bill Oddie though I suppose.

I dought many anti's are going to buy a new landrover anyway, so why waste money advertising too them. Landrover pitch there adverts to perswaude people that are likely to buy one.
Its like politicians, come elections they campane hard on the 'floating voters', give a general resurance to the devout and barely bother with the areas that are opotition strong holds.

Land Rover has been a part of the royal family and is as regal as the monarchy. I think the Queen should appear in the advert and kick the loonies into touch    Zara can come laning with us any day 8)

BTW have you seen Her Majesty sheer a propshaft uj in the movie 'The Queen'? Just shows it can happen to anyone, but unlike some she knows how to fix it as she was a mechanic during the war

Actually an ambulance driver, which entailed the mechanical knowledge to keep it running too.

And as for Zara, IIRC the horse trial her family organised last year or whenever was also sponsored by LR.  I don't think it makes it a staus symble at all because they use them for the purpose they were intended, like the hamster said, Land Rovers are classless.

I seem to remember they used two LRs to form part of one of the jumps on the cross-country course, showing yet another side of its versatility!

Just think of the alternative, however unlikely that may have been.
Zara Phillips is the new face of the Ramblers Association!
She is shown wearing a bobble hat, a pair of shapeless corduroy plus 4's, a blue kagool, and a pair of mud spattered red knee socks!

Would it have the same effect, nameley promoting discusion and debate  over the future of the Monarchy and use of a certain vehicle?
