try chucking in some injector cleaner ( loads it wont hurt it)
will do! gonna nick some off matty tomorrow if he goes to work... hes dying apparently! it gets killed down the road 100% of the time anyway ;)

Save the hassle and guessing, take it to a propper commercial Diesel Specilaist, they should be able to diagnose the problem, then give you an accurate estimate of what it will cost to fix it.Do it right the first time, and save a fortune later.The only problem for most people, are that 200Tdi Injectors are an exchange item, as they are dual spring types that not many can refurbish to spec'. The last set I bought (Exchange) were about £100 each!!!! About 5 years ago. Worth every penny though..They will also fully test the pump, and check out everything else, including the timing. One thing they will appreciate though, is a clean engine and surroundings, and tell them everything you've done to it before you took it to them. No disrespect, but DIY Diesel maintenance, is much more critical than any petrol engine.Good Luck.Dave B.
