Wolf Rims
« on: January 02, 2007, 13:38:46 »
Has anyone ever tried Wolf rims on their Disco?  I am hoping to visit Iceland in the Summer and thought about using some steel wheels with a set of 235/85/16 all terrains... I like the thought of using LR wheels rather than 3rd party ones.  I guess using the wheels I have already makes the best financial sense!

I am concerned mostly with offset compared to the standard Freestyle alloys I have presently.

Does anyone have any they want to sell or swap for some Freestyles?

Wolf rims fit no problems but not meant for wide tyres as they are 7.5J wide i think?

wolf rims are 6.5" wide... 235/85's fit perfect, and 265/75's arent a problem either, although from what i've gathered theres mixed views on fitting 265's.

however that said, bfg's 255/85's are meant to fit 6.5"-7.5" rims (if i remember right) so an extra 1cm cant make much difference ;) either way, they're fine with 235's.

My brother (hippo on here) runs them - though with slightly smaller tyres (225x75x16 I think), and with wheel spacers...

Offset isn't too different to Freestyles... in all honesty the off set of any Land Rover Alloy is pretty small.

See here for pics:

Thanks for the feedback guys...

The pics have helped a lot.  I think they look really good and I assume as Wolf rims are made for the services, they should be pretty tough...

Err ...yes i try not to get it scatched, although after the green laning on cannock chase I appear to have failed!!!!

As for the Wolf rims they fit great and it goes around corners better!!  As Porny mentioned I do use them with wheel spacers so they stick out about 1/2" more than the alloys did with the spacers.  just to let you know you can get tubed and tubeless type wolf rims so be carefull what you buy, and dont forget to post some pics when you do.

Thanks for that Hippo...

Any particualr reason you use spacers apart from improving the steering lock?

Looks better, handles better... was easier to get the older alloys on and off.. and because I got him them quite cheap

Are proper hubcentric ones, not the plain fronted type.

Really because of what Porny has said.  Also it was either bigger tyres or big offset rims, both of which have their good points and bad points, but once you have laid out for either of the above its very expensive if you change your mind!!
I bought them for my last disco to improve stability 'cause it had a 2" lift which they did.  I also think it gives the illusion of bigger wheels because they have moved further out.

And yes i did get the MM dvd - thank you
