We are giving Kelmarsh a go this year, over the last couple of years it seemed that the trade area wasn't as good, and the camping area has shrunk to make way for the static pitches, I know that their was the farmers field near to the off-road course, though we like the atmosphere right in the show, also the toilet/shower facilities especially last year were diabolical  .
We have been going to Billing for the last seven years and we have noticed the change over the last two show's, don't get me wrong we have had some cracking time's, and obviously the main reason we go as all others,  is to lap up the Land Rover atmosphere, so Kelmarsh don't let us down  :)

I think it's rather the point that they aren't

The rumour mill is that for reasons untold LRE have decided to change venues, this gives them the opportunity for more space, potentially better facilities and a revamped layout to accommodate more pitches, something which the site at billing aquadrome has been struggling to offer for the last few years.  It also allows a decent attempt at improving security as there is no public right of way across the middle of Kelmarsh.

Billing Aquadrome however would prefer to keep the show there, since it is probably quite a revenue earner.  Since the history of the show is that it is held at Billing they approached (or were approached by) the other magazines who wanted to host their own show and use the name of "billing" and (presumably the better parts of) it's reputation to give them a fighting chance.

Hence, the traders, visitors, campers and enthusiasts are now stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea with two shows to attend on the same day,  what fun us.

The only question is really which one you think the clubs and traders will be attending.   I am under the impression that Mud-Club will be attending Kelmarsh,  hopefully in an official capacity as will some of the larger traders.   Granted we could have attended the other one, but Billing has been suffering from an acute lack of security and to some extent atmosphere for the last couple of shows, and has been a fire hazard waiting to do the RAs job for them pretty much from the get go;  hence we figured we'd give the other site a try.

If only we could attend both, or, if only the magazines realised that partaking the michael out of the "community" isn't the best way of getting them to buy your mag as oppose to a rivals :(

I think it'll be Kelmarsh on the Saturday, and if it's any good we'll be back on the Sunday. Otherwise it'll be off to Billing for Sunday.

Got a long list of things to get for the 90, and unfortunately early indications show that half of the people I want to see are at one show, and the other half are at the other!

Cheers

reading the footnote of "some of these are listed twice so the other list is miss leading" doesn't suggest there's a rather stupid amount of bickering going on does it :(

<sigh> Personally I'd like to slap just about everyone involved :(

Didn't bother with Billing last year. The previous couple of years had left me uninspired.

Last year the only 'big' LR show we did was Peterborough and, although it wasn't huge, it was a pleasant weekend spent with friends. That's what I want from a weekend away, although better trade presence would have been nice (but expensive!).

So I guess we might give Kelmarsh a try this year.

I know that feeling!

Its about time an absolutely huge venue was booked and ALL the magazines were invited to have a hand in organizing a massive spectacular of a show!
Do the editors or whoever of the landy mags not realise most of their readers also read the other ones too? I'm gonna start a poll
