Diff went POP!!!!
« on: January 10, 2007, 15:51:54 »
driving back home after a meal on sunday nite, i heard a fudding and i could feel it all through the truck.... so i pulled up amiddiatly to see if i could see anything........

well i couldnt see anything so i drove it with the door open to see if i could hear where it was coming from, but it had stopped... so i carryed on home, asoon as i went around a corner it happened again, OH CRAP!!!!

all the way home it would happen, then it would stop just like that... i knew that this wasnt just going to be a simple wheel bearing going, or something like that....

the next morning i jacked up the rear of the truck and moved the wheels to see how much play was in them before it would move the prop shaft... oh my god i cud turn the wheel about 1/8th of a turn before the prop would move..... now i knew the diff had gone!!!!

i took the diff off and look at what i found (picture) the planet gear shaft had snapped... not in one place but two!!!!! mad a nice mess of the gear too, im so glad i only had to drive it a small jerny home... the EP90 looked a mattlic colour cuz of the metal flowting around in it.....

a couple of days before hand i was thinking of getting a diff locker and this was the excuse to get my credit card out and get one

so now im a proud owner of a detroit locker in the rear  :D

heres some picy's
I LOVE MUD!!!!!! but my engine doesnt
