TPS and MPS are now online

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/

Will let you know if they work as I now get a binliner of junk mail a month :(
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

We have used FPS (fax version) and TPS for several years at work. We were getting through fax rolls so fast, it was unbelievable. Took about 3 months, but after that we hardly got any more junk faxes. So it does work.

We still occasionally get computer dailed calls, but it's pretty rare and I've usually put the phone down before they speak anyway!!!

I've got MPS & TPS on the landline and mobile numbers, made a big difference to both phones and nowhere near as much junk mail coming through the post, it's getting better all the time, a great improvement.

regestered with both over a year ago,

only get calls from a mobile phone mob who should have got the message by now, after the abuse I give them every time they call

Junk mail is only been delivered by my postman now and will be saving it all up for a year and then shoving it in the local sorting offices box around Xmas time.
Cheers.

I signed up to TPS a couple of years ago and noticed the improvement immediately.  I was getting virtually non-stop cold calls, mostly just after 6pm while I was trying to have my tea, and I got to a point where when they said "Is that Mrs S___" - I wasn't married then - I used to say "No, I'm the babysitter (no kids)/dog sitter/cleaner/builder" but it was still disruptive.  Just the occasional computer generated one these days but when you don't talk to them they get upset and hang up on you :?

Junk mail
The best solution I have seen
Get one reply paid envolope from an insurance co etc, send them the local chinese and pizza menu from the frre papers, or beter still post them your old batterys, an Argos catalogue etc, they pay the postage keeps the post man in a job etc.
I did register cant think who with now and I still get the odd sales call to my mobile, so I say I am very interested then hang on a min Ive left the bath running and just leave them there.
Funnily enough the sales call I wanted I got (from Land Rover) they never followed it up, must not want the business.
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

I once got a guy selling me a mobile phone to believe that due to my religious beliefs I didnt agree with telephones. In fact Id never had a telephone.

(I was talking to him on the phone at this point!!!)

Wether he just thought I was a bit crazy I dont know, but I find the sales calls a good way to unwind at the end of the day. You can have so much fun with them.
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

I'm with TPS and it had helped but I still get the odd call from abroad. The best approach is to have some fun with them - I have caller id so it goes something like this..

Me: "Hello, city morgue"

Cold caller: "Oh hello, could I speak to Mr Peter I** please?"

Me: "Ummm.... let me check.... third draw on the left... Oh, he seems to be still dead I'm afraid. Have you got a weggie board - we could get a seance going?"

Cold caller: <pause> "Oh, could I speak to Mr I*** please?"

Me: "Well I've tried prodding him with a stick but he won't wake up."

Cold caller: "Could I call back later at some point"

Me: "Oh sure, but I'm not sure of his new number now."

Caller: "Is this not the right number for Mr I****?"

Me: "I guess so... It depends on if there is an afterlife I suppose... And if their is I doubt he made it into heaven, so he's probably been re-incarnated and working in a call centre in India or something."

Which is a good point to hang up on them.

I also do the local prison ("sorry, he's in solitary at the moment"), a faith healer ("Oh, I can feel your chakra is all twisted, let me help you") an evangelist ("Pray with me to god for your salvation son, donate to my church")

A lot of these callers are not allowed to hang up on you - so if you have the time and are bored, you can have endless hours of fun with them  :P

or you could do the same back to them....

them: hi would you be interested in double glazing?

me: yes i was about to ask you the samer thing, can i interest YOU in some double glazing

them: no, no sir, i think you misunderstand, would you like some double glazing

me: yes i understand, but i wanted to know if you wanted double glazing, i can sell you some at a good price....

a long droning noise of the phone being hung up...

A colleague of mine asks them lots of questions first, their name in full, the company...ask them to spell every word, all contact details...spelt out in full, where they are in the country, if it is raining, what sort of car they drive, what hours they work... and she goes on like this saying that her boyfriend is very jealous and violent and needs all this information first. Then she says the kettle is boiling and hangs up.

We joined the phone blocking system and it works a treat.

I tell them I'm driving a police car and can't talk to them...... even on my landline!
