3.9V8i Ignition problems

:?  Help. The above started one morning then cut out. Turns over lovely but will not fire. Got fuel to the plugs but very weak spark. Changed the coil and ignition amplifier to no avail. Tested the resistance on the pick-up in the dizzy and all was good. Still got a very weak spark. All plugs, leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap were changed less than a year ago with very little mileage since. Any ideas?

bad earth on the amp?  mechanical wear inside dizzy?  broken/dodgy carbon rod inside dizzy cap in the centre?

Does it run if you put a 12v feed from the battery to Coil+ terminal??

Have checked the earths but will try the 12v to the coil. what if it starts? would that then blame the immobiliser?
