What winch?
« on: January 21, 2007, 13:23:58 »
Hi everyone. Its my birthday in a couple of weeks. And hopefully ill be getting a winch.

Question is. What size or prefered winch should i get. I have been offered a Huskey for just under £300 in very good condition. But i think its an 8000lb model. Is this man enought for my 110?

If not what do people suggest. Or do you have one for sale.

No £1000 ers please. :)

Thanks Guys and Girls.

I have no experience of that particular type of winch, but i did buy a cheap one off ebay, wish i hadn't, it's the biggest load of crap going, 3 times now i've been stuck, wound out the cable, and ..... nothing, no wicnhing.... damn... thankfully there's always been someone there to pull me out...... i will shortly be spending my hard earned on a DECENT branded winch, not someone you've never heard of!!!!
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

i have a warn xd9000i and am very impressed with it.

plenty of power in it and never let me down yet.

pay the extra ££ and buy a decent branded one...no point in having cheap rubbish that lets you down when you need it!

Can anyone confirm if this is a 8000lb or 10000lb model. And is it a good deal? Cheers Wayne. :)

put it this way, it was std fitment on camel 110's and discos
and there was only the 8000lb model out at the time
ive got a huskey on the arse end of my 90 with a 4.6 bolted to the box
yes it slows down alot more than any other winch, put when others die they huskey keeps going.........and going..........and going.........and going......then the solenoids start to smoke.......but it keeps on goin and goin and wont stop until you let go of the button
i cannot fault the huskey
and ino a trick of how to speed up a huskey to the speed of 5ft a min ful load
but its not a good idea for lowering then so i didnt do it
huskey and also
its served paul proud for the past 3 or 4 years at challenges
and mines served me proud for the past 5 years, (was on disco before hauling its heavy ass and a 1.5t boat up a beach)
