TDi engine breather, with air con

any ideas are welcome!

replaced/extended both axles, gearbox and transfer box breather pipes. With the air con models, the tensioner bracket/arm is the injector pump timing cover, thus i am unable to mount the after market plate on it for the timing cover breather. Can anyone see any issues with drilling and tapping the arm tensioner?

can you leave the wadding plaug in once a breather pipe is attached? and how about the gearbox one?

I will do a swap for my info for yours!!!

where on earth is the gearbox and Tbox breather bits as I cant find them anywhere.

My info now on the air con thingy.

the bracket your on about on mine the bearing wore out so I unbolted the bracket and put the right bracket on in its place.

My theory is if theair con was working the bracket would see the hole up so no water would get in. No idea why you would need a breather as I dont know what the timing cover hides. a watch perhaps?? :lol:  :?

Apparently the Tdi cover is for when a wadding plug is in place. I think that if the engine hits cold water it can be sucked in past various gaskets which are worn and arn't 100% perfectly sealed due to some sort of physics. I had both the idler and the tensioner bearings go on the air con pulleys as well, replaced them both.

your info! -

the gearbox and transfer box breathers are located behind the engine block at the top, right at the back of the engine bay - usually on the left hand side. They have curved ends (like a walking stick) and the same as the original axle breathers. Hope that helps. If you need any pictures i'm sure i can arrange something!

photos would be good please. instructions came with photos and i couldnt line up the photos to under the disco.

i have my breather on the idler pulley area so thats cool it wont suck water in around other areas then :D. just no air con though :( my idler bearing went hence ok to replace with breather.
