There are a few places and Maddison 4x4 springs to mind, but why not mail order?

Ooohhh, it's the Donnington show in a few weeks, bargains to be had there I guess

Yes I've heard of them, don't know how good they are though.  If it's Maddison that are selling the Champion then I'd go with that recomendation, they wouldn't sell them if they were tat.

winch choice

To be truthful it depends on how much your willing to pay and what sort of stuff you going to be doing with it? Competitions etc.? I don't think you can go much wrong with a britpart 9500 , seem to be selling well and are well priced , it's the one i'm going for as i do require a winch for the off-roading i do but nowt extreme. So i think britpart will be ok.(by the way i'm not a salesman for them!! )

There are that many out there we are a bit spoiled for choice....but it also comes down to price!! If your gonna be using it day in ,day out then you need to be spending a bit more , Goodwinch , Warn etc.....Champion seem ok , a guy i know has one and it's doing the bizz for him quite nicely.

Good luck , give us a tow if i get stuck and yer passin??

Well I've wanted a winch since I got into Land Rovers and last Feb I finally got my way and bought a Superwinch (IIRC) from Goodwinch at Donnington.

ANyway, it's doing a fantstic job of holding the back of my truck down on the floor, but I've never used it in anger.  So maybe I should say just buy the cheapest one you can until you have a good reason not to :?  I know the comp guys have distinct preferences but where do you draw the line? we'd all like an 8274 but for some of us they cost as much as the truck
